Reining’s history is deeply rooted in the state of Ohio. From the long list of reining legends coming from the region to the first National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Futurity being held in Columbus, the sport took its first steps in Ohio and continues to flourish there. In an effort to continue this success and to propel NRHA and the Ohio Quarter Horse Association (OQHA) to new heights, the two associations are thrilled to announce a new Strategic Marketing Alliance.

The alliance formalizes their cooperation to strengthen participation and awareness of Reining at the All American Quarter Horse Congress. Among the list of cooperative efforts, NRHA plans to provide their groundbreaking and popular Ride a Reiner as part of the world’s largest single-breed horse show. NRHA will give some lucky attendees the chance to experience the thrill of executing Reining’s signature moves October 13 – 14 in Cooper Arena during the All American Quarter Horse Congress.

NRHA President Beth Himes commented on the new alliance partnership, “With the All American Quarter Horse Congress being the largest single, breed horse show in the world, NRHA sees a great opportunity in gaining interest in our sport with those already competitive in other disciplines. We look forward to enhancing Reining’s presence at the show and to continuing our long history together. Partnerships like this can only strengthen the horse industry as a whole, and we’re honored to formalize this alliance with the Ohio Quarter Horse Association.”

“Reining has deep roots here in Ohio and has always been a signature event at the All American Quarter Horse Congress,” said Dr. Scott Myers, OQHA Executive Director. “The Ohio Quarter Horse Association has formed a formal alliance with the National Reining Horse Association to enhance the Congress Reining Program and also to expose new exhibitors to the sport of Reining. We will host an exhibitor appreciation party immediately following the Reining Futurity for exhibitors and supporters. Programs like “Ride A Reiner,” which will be featured at the 2012 Congress, provide a hands-on opportunity to introduce this great event to new exhibitors. We are excited to work with an organization like NRHA that is so dedicated to sharing their great sport and promoting a discipline with such a great heritage here in Ohio.”

The All American Quarter Horse Congress is the world’s largest single-breed horse show. It has more than 17,000 entries annually during its three-week duration each October. Held at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus, the show attracts 650,000 people to the area, and generates $180 million for the Central Ohio economy. The All American Quarter Horse Congress is hosted by the Ohio Quarter Horse Association, a state affiliate of the American Quarter Horse Association. Our mission is to promote the registered American Quarter Horse within the state of Ohio. For more information, please visit or call our office at (740) 943-2346.
