Zone 5 Hunt Seat Finals Determine Who Else Travels to PA in May!

The IHSA Zone Finals kicked off on Saturday April 6th, at Evermore Farm in Statesboro, Georgia.  With the sun shining, and finally brilliant weather for the first time this season, the show began.  Each division was divided into two sections, Individual and Team competition.  The five teams competing for the top two placing that would send them to Pennsylvania for the 2013 Nationals were: Berry College, College of Charleston, Savannah College of Art and Design, Vanderbilt, and Virginia Intermont.

Berry and SCAD fought repeatedly throughout the day for the first place positions in relentless competition.

Class Results as follows:

Open O/F- Berry: Nicole Roos (Champion)
           SCAD: Michael Kocher (Reserve Champion)
Open Flat- Berry: Nicole Roos (Champion)

Intermediate O/F: SCAD: Lindsay Baker (Champion)
                Berry: Kristin Brennan (Reserve Champion)
Intermediate Flat: Berry: Kristin Brennan (3rd)
                SCAD: Ryan Genn (5th)

Novice O/F: Berry: Mallory Hammer (Champion)
             SCAD: Lauren McGuire (3rd)
Novice Flat: Berry: Jessica Tabb (Champion)
             SCAD: Kelly DiFiglia (3rd)

WTC: SCAD: Remy Wells (Champion)
    Berry: Sara Claudia (Reserve Champion)
WT: SCAD: Cecille Langley (Champion)
        Berry: Rachel LeRoy (Reserve Champion)

The day concluded with Berry College continuing their undefeated season in first place with SCAD in second place.This will be the return of Berry’s Hunt Seat Team to Nationals as a team in 4 years and SCAD’s third year in a row appearance. Nicole Roos of Berry will also represent Zone 5 Region 2 in the Cacchione Cup with the highest combined Open Flat and Over Fences point total.

Final Zones Scores:
Berry – 1st with 45
SCAD- 2nd with 39
College of Charleston- 3rd with 33
Virginia Intermont- 4th with 30
Vanderbilt- 5th with 21
