Minnesota competes at Zones and Semis for a Chance at Nationals

The University of Minnesota traveled all the way to West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas on Saturday April 6th to compete in the IHSA Hunt Seat Zones for Zone 7. Five teams competed in the team classes:
• University of Minnesota – Twin Cities (Region 3)
• Purdue University (Region 1)
• Louisiana State University (Region 2)
• University of Wisconsin – Madison (Region 4)
• Northern Illinois University (Region 5)

Purdue won team competition and Louisiana State University was reserve. Both will be continuing on to Nationals in Pennsylvania in just a week!

Minnesota brought 6 riders to compete:
Hayleigh Adams: Open individual, open team, Caccione cup
Katie Wifvat: intermediate team
Richelle Fermanich: novice team
Lindsey Zimmerman: Walk-trot-canter team, walk-trot individual
Greta Lindberg: walk-trot team
Kerry Hansen: intermediate individual

Riders Hayleigh Adams for Open and Caccione Cup Rider and Lindsey Zimmerman for walk-trot will be continuing on to Nationals. Best of luck to both girls as they travel to PA!

 

Minnesota also competed in the Western Semi-Finals at Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky. They  had two riders compete at semi-finals:

Morgan Sexe: Open horsemanship individual
Taylor Neese: walk-trot individual

Zone 7 was won by West Texas A&M.
