IMG_9684Saturday, June 30th. It is a smoking hot morning here in Michigan, with an expected heat index  of 115 today everyone is trying to stay cool. The morning started off with some incredible two and three year old HUS horses. We were glad to see the hunt seaters go early this morning as posting in a jacket will be pushing the body’s limits on a day like today. Judy Zeitler had a incredible day with  wins in both the 2YO and 3YO classes.

The Maturity WP class was one of the best classes we have seen in a long time. Ashley Lakins took the win in the Int. open on the great RR Magical Moonlite and Aaron Moses won the Open division in Kristen Galyean`s outstanding mare VS Lady in Red. IMG_9800

The afternoon will include the 2YO Maiden Stakes Sale class which everyone is excited to see as well as the Super Sires 3YO NP pleasure. Stay tuned for results, videos and photos from the action!

Friday, June 29th. The Western Pleasure Super Sires kicked things off with the Non Pro Longe Line Friday Morning. An outstannding group of sixteen  yearlings  competed for more than $20,000 in cash!  Haylo Farm had a sweep with their two entries tying for the win. Stanley Scott was declared champion with Comin At Ya Blue by the tie breaker judge with Nancy Ditty finishing reserve champion with her gorgeus filly How Do You Figure. The riding classes will follow as the ring is dragged, watered and prepped for a busy afternoon.

A very special class will be held at the end of today. The Clint Collingsworth #RideLikeClint memorial bridleless western peasure class at the end of the day. This event will feature a calcutta of participants with the proceeds going to Alana Collingsworth.  It is sure to be well attended as this industry does it’s best to help this family in such a tough time.

Stay tuned for full results and updates though out the day!

IMG_9125[1]Thursday, June 28th. Thursday’s show continued late into the night and the final class was completed after the sun set at nearly 10:00.  The arena amazingly did try up and by the afternoon hunt seat classes there was even a bit of dust.

Kristen Galyean and her great mare VS Lady In Red continued their winning streak with a win in the Maturity Non Pro Pleasure.  Thw 3Y0 Limited Open followed with a large class of 24 talented horses.  Houton Huff took the win on Masterson Farms KM Cheers To The Best and Theresa Wills was reserve on An Absolute Martini (Our June Show Horse Today cover model) for Breezee Hill farm.  IMG_9186

A beautiful big roan caught everyone’s attention in the 3YO ltd Open HUS. Proving a horse of a unique color can win in the hust seat  VS Cracked The Code by VS Code Red trotted to the win with Judy Zeitler.  Aaron Moses  loped Starland Ranch’s Moonrageus the the win in the 3YO $2500 Ltd Horse class. The evening continued with a win for Best Brew At The Bar and Sarah Nimigan in the 3YO Ltd Non Pro Pleasure. Best Brew At The Bar is sired by hot young site The Best Martini.
Though classes ran late, the talent level never dipped in the pen.

Tomorrow will begin with the first Super Sires class (Yearling Longe Line) before we continue on with what will likely be another late night with the added classes from Wednesday’s rain out scheduled.

IMG_8941Thursday, June 28th. The sun is out and so are the tractors. The past few days of monsoon weather have the grounds more than a little “soupy.” Yesterday afternoon’s classes were rescheduled for today and Friday to allow the grounds time to dry up so that the riding classes can show outside. Everyone is working tirelessly to return the footing to showable conditions.

The Longe line classes are showing inside and are some the of the biggest classes we have seen. With 30 head shown in the Open Longe Line and even 11 in the Color Longe Line, the quality and number of yearlings shown is a good sign for this industry.

IMG_8983Big winners from Wednesday’s Color Longe Line included Open Color Longe Line Champion, How Do You Figure by How Bout This Cowboy shown by Kathie Kennedy. Bred and raised by Leeman Farm, this talented filly is now proudly owned by Susan and Stanley Scott.

Stanley also took the blue in the Non Pro Color Longe Line with Comin At Ya Blue by VS Code Blue, and this stunning colt was reserve in the Open Color Longe Line with Scott Kesney.

In Thursday morning’s HUS Longe Line Kathie Kennedy again longed to a win with Hello Pretty by Hesa Cool Hotrod, owned by Amy Brosch and the reserve champion was UF Parked At The Bar by The Best Martini with Anthony Leier for Aaron Bovos.
