“Sun”day is aptly named here in Berrien Springs! Tom Powers Triple Challenge Futurity exhibitors and spectators alike welcomed the bright blue skies and sunny morning today, as the show kicked off with HUS classes and quickly moved into western pleasure.
The highlight of Saturday’s afternoon was the Maiden 2YO Sale Stakes Western Pleasure, with both an open and limited division. Congratulations to Jay Starnes and Lazy Illusion, Champions in the Open, AND Becky Galyean and Extreme Moonlite in the Limited. Click here for more information on those classes.

Saturday morning here at the Tom Powers brings cooler temps and a little moisture on the grounds. The 2 and 3 year old Hunter Under Saddle classes bravely kicked off the day for us!
Friday’s action included some huge classes, with amazing horses and riders. The 3YO Ltd Rider Western Pleasure Class was won by Sleep Machine, by Machine Made and owned by William W. Cox, ridden by Adam Mathis. Reserve Champions in this class were Chum Machine, ridden and owned by Courtney Chown.
Saturday the fun continues with more hunter under saddle, maturity and 2 and 3 year old western pleasure. The afternoon will usher in the Western Pleasure Super Sires 3 year old Non Pro and Ltd Non Pro classes, as well as the much anticipated Triple Challenge Maiden 2YO Sale Stakes Western Pleasure, with its guaranteed purse of $60,000. The day will be capped off with the Tom Powers Triple Challenge Stakes Sale, following the pig roast to benefit the NSBA Trainers’ Crisis Fund. Come on down and join the fun!

Wow! Spectators were treated to an amazing array of horses and exhibitors kicking off the 35th Tom Powers Triple Challenge Futurity. The first 15 classes of the show displayed some incredible talent. Show-goers are certainly enjoying the greenery and warm breezes of Berrien Springs, Michigan.
Congratulations to Rusty Green and Momma Knows Best, by RL Best of Sudden and owned by Capitol Quarter Horses LLC. The duo walked away Champions in the Tom Powers 2015 3YO $2,500 Limited Horse Western Pleasure.
