Sunday at the Tom Powers featured some very talented young and novice riders and some great moving horses. The clouds threatened in the morning, but the sun won that fight and brought us blue skies and warm, summer breezes.
Saying farewell to the Tom Powers Triple Challenge Futurity is always bittersweet. So many nice horses and talented exhibitors, such wonderful hosts in the Powers family and friends, such amazing weather! We have enjoyed bringing you the sights, news and full results from this year’s Tom Powers.
Thanks to all for a wonderful 2014 show!

Congratulations to Patrick Heeley and Simply My Goodbar, Champions in the 2014 Tom Powers Futurity Maiden 2 year old Sale Stakes Open Western Pleasure! It’s the second time around for Heeley, who also took Champion in last year’s Maiden 2YO class, with Sleepy N I Know It. Reserve Co-Champions are Sucha Machine with Shane Pope and Honolulu Babe with Katy Jo Zuidema.
Other highlights of the day included the NSBA Bridle-Less Trainer Crisis Fund Benefit Western Pleasure, which was overwhelmingly won by Carl Yamber aboard OHK Krymsuns Goodbar, owned by Richard and Betty Carr. The calcutta and benefit raised over $26,000!
