Smooth chaps or ultrasuede?

Q. Hi Tammy, I’m currently working on a new western show outfit and am unsure of what’s the best option…. slick chaps or ultrasuede/hide out leather chaps.  What’s your opinion?

A. I prefer rough out chaps and I prefer hide not ultra suede. Hides tend to fit better and make for a nice pair of chaps -  they mold more to your body where ultra suede does not.  Smooth chaps right now are not the trend, however you do see them from time to time.
