AQHA’s Adequan Select World Show Kicks Off with Three World Champions Day One!
On August 23, three AQHA members were named world champions at the American Quarter Horse Association’s 2013 Adequan Select World Championship Show in Amarillo in the following classes:
PERFORMANCE HALTER STALLIONS – Bob Story, DVM of Sunland Park, New Mexico, showed his American Quarter Horse Brtsendingmyregards. The 2009 gray stallion, sired by Chicks Regard and out of Aleisha Elaine, was bred by Ryan Story Chelsey of Santa Teresa, New Mexico.
PERFORMANCE HALTER GELDINGS – Betty Watt of Elbert, Colorado, showed her American Quarter Horse Lets Shake Em Up. The 2008 bay gelding, sired by Innovation Only and out of JR Fancy Can Zip, was bred by Sharon Willis of Louisburg, Missouri.
PERFORMANCE HALTER MARES – Dawn Jindrich of Toddville, Iowa, showed her homebred American Quarter Horse Miss Krymsun Kash. The 2006 sorrel mare is sired by One Hot Krymsun and out of Miss Mega Cash.
World champions received a prize package that included a custom-designed gold trophy, Montana Silversmiths buckle, specially designed logoed jacket, courtesy of Cripple Creek Outerwear, product from Tex Tan or WeatherBeeta, neck wreath, a medallion and 100 pounds of Nutrena feed.
The Adequan Select World is the pinnacle event for American Quarter Horse exhibitors ages 50 and over from around the world, who must qualify for the event by earning a predetermined number of points to compete in each of the classes representing halter, English and western disciplines. More than 1,280 entries from the United States and Canada are competing for 44 world championships at this year’s event, August 23-31 at the Tri-State Fairgrounds in Amarillo.
