AQHA East and West Novice Championships Going On Now! See Results Here

Picture 6The second annual AQHA Novice Championships are going on now in Murfreesboro, TN (East) and Las Vegas, NV (West). These championships are designed specifically for Novice riders, to give them a chance to compete at a World quality level without the World Championship horses (yet!).

To earn an invitation to this event, exhibitors must:

  • Show at 20 shows in a Novice class
  • Place in the Top Ten at a Regional Show in a Novice event
  • Qualify through the exhibitor’s state/provincial affiliate

The West Novice Championship Show is held at the South Point Arena and Equestrian Center in Las Vegas, October 2-6. 434 horses are slated to show, with 411 exhibitors totaling 1,463 entries. The largest class is the Nov Amateur Horsemanship, with 142 entries! The festivities kicked off October 1st with “Ride The Pattern” clinics for Showmanship, Equitation and Equitation Over Fences. This is the first year that fence classes are included at the Novice Championships, and the classes had good numbers. Exhibitor parties graced the show grounds as well, to the excitment of all of the exhibitors. Results as of 4:30 pm Wednesday, Oct 2:

  • Nov Youth Equitation Over Fences: 1st-Erin Gordon and An Indian Breeze, 2nd- Emily Cooper and Slow Lopin Charilie, 3rd- Sara Thompson and Vintage Krymsun.
  • Nov Amateur Equitation Over Fences: 1st- Sydney Janet Shafer and Thumbs Debut, 2nd-Lisa Johnston and Storm Luke, 3rd- Jo Ann Niffennegger and Laced In Krymsun
  • Nov Youth Working Hunter: 1st- Erin Gordon and An Indian Breeze, 2nd- Allison Kamile Allen and RSVP Coats N Tails, 3rd- Emily S. Cooper and Slow Lopin Charilie
  • Nov Amateur Working Hunter: 1st- Sydney Janet Shafer and Thumbs Debut, 2nd-Lisa Manlove and (unknown), 3rd- Lindsey Meling and Wait N Z
  • Nov Youth Hunter Hack: 1st-Emily Cooper and Slow Lopin Charilie, 2nd- Allison Kamile Allen and RSVP Coats N Tails, 3rd-Erin Gordon and An Indian Breeze

The East Novice Championship began October 1-6 in Murfreesboro, TN at the Tennessee Miller Coliseum. 1,562 total entries are made up by 480 horses and 489 exhibitors. The largest class is also the Novice Amateur Horsemanship, with 144 entries. The show was also proceeded by a Ride The Pattern clinic the day before the show began. The shows have more Ride The Pattern clinics throughout the duration of the event, and they also enjoyed an exhibitor party. The show is also enjoying good first year fence numbers, and other classes as well. Results as of 4:30 pm on Wednesday, Oct 2:
