AQHA Crowns Two World Champions on 13th Day of Competition

The 2013 Bank of America Amateur and AQHA Open World Championship Show continues in Oklahoma City.

On November 20, two AQHA members were named world champions at the 2013 Bank of America Amateur and American Quarter Horse Association Open World Championship Show in Oklahoma City in the following classes:

JUNIOR WESTERN PLEASURE – Rusty Green of Pilot Point, Texas, showed the American Quarter Horse Whatscookngoodlookin owned by Capital Quarter Horses, LLC of Edmond, Oklahoma. The 2008 bay mare, sired by A Good Machine and out of A Cooki For Certain, was bred by E-Z Farms, Inc. of Lebanon, Tennessee.

JUNIOR WORKING COW HORSE – Shawn Hays of Nocona, Texas, showed the American Quarter Horse Thecrowdlovesme owned by Yellow Creek Ranch and D & B Brown of Dickson, Tennessee. The 2008 sorrel stallion, sired by Smart Chic Olena and out of Shine Smartly, was bred by Walter Greeman and Tammy Hays of Tishomingo, Oklahoma. 

World champions received a prize package that included a custom-designed gold trophy, Montana Silversmiths buckle, specially designed logoed jacket, courtesy of Cripple Creek Outerwear, a WeatherBeeta embroidered blanket, neck wreath, a medallion and 100 pounds of Nutrena feed.

The AQHA World Show is the pinnacle event for American Quarter Horse owners and exhibitors around the world, who must qualify for the event by earning a predetermined number of points to compete in each of the classes representing halter, English and western disciplines. More than 3,400 entries from the United States, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, Mexico and the United Kingdom are competing for 98 world championships and a purse of more than $2.4 million at this year’s event, November 8-23 at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City.
