AQHA Crowns Three World Champions on First Day of Competition
The Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show continues at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City.
On August 2, three AQHYA members were named world champions at the 2013 Built Ford Tough American Quarter Horse Youth Association World Championship in Oklahoma City in the following classes:
PERFORMANCE HALTER MARES – Paulina Marie Martz of Blacklick, Ohio, showed the American Quarter Horse Onlythebestchocolate who is owned by Chelsea Martz of Blacklick, Ohio. The 2007 bay mare, sired by RL Best Of Sudden and out of Chocolate Only, was bred by Casey Kimberlin and Patsy Casey of Folsom, Louisiana.
PERFORMANCE HALTER GELDINGS – Kaylee Rampey of Edmond, Oklahoma, showed her American Quarter Horse One Hot Amigo. The 2002 sorrel gelding, sired by Zippo Hot Pine and out of Amiga Leaguer, was bred by Gorman and Alice Barger of Weber City, Virginia.
AGED GELDINGS – Cooper Dobbs of Jonesboro, Arkansas, showed the American Quarter Horse Jbees Private Jet who is owned by Travis Dobbs of Jonesboro, Arkansas. The 2009 black gelding, sired by Self Employed and out of Sierras Black Miss, was bred by Jerry Bauerly of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota.
World champions received a prize package that included a custom-designed gold trophy, Montana Silversmiths buckle, specially designed logoed jacket, courtesy of Cripple Creek Outerwear, a WeatherBeeta embroidered blanket, world champion patch, neck wreath and gold medallion.
The Ford Youth World is the pinnacle event for American Quarter Horse exhibitors ages 18 and under around the world, who must qualify for the event by earning a predetermined number of points to compete in each of the classes representing halter, English and western disciplines. More than 2,300 entries from the United States, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland and Venezuela are competing for 35 world championships at this year’s event, August 2-10 in Oklahoma City.
