AQHA Crowns Five World Champions on Eighth Day of Competition

On August 30, five AQHA members were named world champions at the American Quarter Horse Association’s 2013 Adequan Select World Championship Show in Amarillo in the following classes:

WESTERN HORSEMANSHIP – Christine Hocutt-Senteney of Burbank, California, showed her homebred American Quarter Horse Bellieve Hes Blazing. The 1998 brown gelding is sired by Blazing Hot and out of Bell Of The Barn.

PLEASURE DRIVING – Tammy Thompson Dyer of Pilot Point, Texas, showed her American Quarter Horse Hot Ones Only. The 2006 bay stallion, sired by Invitation Only and out of Hot Shot Hit, was bred by David James of Purcell, Oklahoma. 

HUNTER UNDER SADDLE – Kirsten Farris of Phoenix, Arizona, Kirsten showed her American Quarter Horse Lyles Al Lie. The 2006 sorrel gelding, sired by Allocate Your Assets and out of Sheza Detail, was bred by Katherine Tobin of Scottsdale, Arizona.

HUNT SEAT EQUITATION – Lori Bucholz of Waterloo, Nebraska, showed her American Quarter Horse Larks Happy Days. The 2002 bay gelding, sired by Rugged Lark and out of Emma Big Leaguer, was bred by Stephen Holloway of Lamar, Arkansas.

HUNTER HACK – Annette Fowler of Azle, Texas, showed her American Quarter Horse Lets Get Started. The 2004 bay gelding, sired by Iron Enterprise and out of Dans Flying Saucer95, was bred by Rita Crundwell of South Beloit, Illinois. 

World champions received a prize package that included a custom-designed gold trophy, Montana Silversmiths buckle, specially designed logoed jacket, courtesy of Cripple Creek Outerwear, product from Tex Tan or WeatherBeeta, neck wreath, a medallion and 100 pounds of Nutrena feed.

The Adequan Select World is the pinnacle event for American Quarter Horse exhibitors ages 50 and over from around the world, who must qualify for the event by earning a predetermined number of points to compete in each of the classes representing halter, English and western disciplines. More than 1,280 entries from the United States and Canada are competing for 44 world championships at this year’s event, August 23-31 at the Tri-State Fairgrounds in Amarillo.
