The Tenth Day of AQHA World Championship Show Brings One More Champion

On November 11, one AQHA member was named world champions at the 2012 FedEx Open American Quarter Horse Association World Championship Show in Oklahoma City in the following classes:

– Dean Holden of Marietta, Oklahoma, showed his American Quarter Horse Smart As Solomon. The 2008 sorrel stallion, sired by Hes A Peptospoonful and out of Shorty Lena Sue, was bred by Ernie and Wilma Roberts of Tulsa, Oklahoma. In the amateur cutting class, 55 entries competed for world champion honors and a purse of $46,524.50.

World champions received a prize package that included a custom-designed gold trophy, Montana Silversmiths buckle, specially designed logoed jacket, courtesy of Cripple Creek Outerwear, a WeatherBeeta embroidered blanket, neck wreath, a medallion and 100 pounds of Nutrena feed.
The AQHA World Show is the pinnacle event for American Quarter Horse owners and exhibitors around the world, who must qualify for the event by earning a predetermined number of points to compete in each of the classes representing halter, English and western disciplines. More than 3,590 entries from the United States, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Germany, Italy, Mexico, United Kingdom and the Netherlands are competing for 97 world championships at this year’s event, November 2-17 at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City.
