The Quarter Horse Becomes a Horse of Honor at the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games
NORMANDY, France- The 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games has named the American Quarter Horse as a “Horse of Honor” for The Games that will be held in Normandy from August 23-September 7.
The Quarter Horse was chosen for its acclaimed versatility, and its ability to excel in reining, the only western sport available at The Games. Also known as the horse who settled the American West, it is loved worldwide for its excellent temperament, intelligence, and the ability to run a quarter-mile faster than any other breed of horse (from where its name is derived.)
The American Quarter Horse Association has long been a supporter of reining and has been instrumental in the growth in popularity the sport has seen in the past ten years. AQHA is also the world’s largest breed registry in terms of registrations and members.
Many quarter horses will take to the arena when The Games kick off August 23 in Normandy, France and will feature events like jumping, dressage, and reining. For a complete schedule and other information, please visit Normandy2014.com.
