The 13th Day of AQHA World Championship Show Brings One More World Champion
On November 14, one AQHA member was named world champion at the 2012 FedEx Open American Quarter Horse Association World Championship Show in Oklahoma City in the following class:
JUNIOR WORKING COW HORSE – Matt Koch of Arthur, Nebraska, showed the American Quarter Horse SDP Blue Blood. The 2008 red roan stallion, sired by Laredo Blue and out of SDP I Got Good Genes, was owned by K&H Performance Horses of Arthur, Nebraska, and was bred by Shane Plummer of Fort Worth, Texas. In the junior working cow horse class, 53 entries competed for world champion honors and a purse of $42,253.72.
World champions received a prize package that included a custom-designed gold trophy, Montana Silversmiths buckle, specially designed logoed jacket, courtesy of Cripple Creek Outerwear, a WeatherBeeta embroidered blanket, neck wreath, a medallion and 100 pounds of Nutrena feed.
The AQHA World Show is the pinnacle event for American Quarter Horse owners and exhibitors around the world, who must qualify for the event by earning a predetermined number of points to compete in each of the classes representing halter, English and western disciplines. More than 3,590 entries from the United States, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Germany, Italy, Mexico, United Kingdom and the Netherlands are competing for 97 world championships at this year’s event, November 2-17 at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City.
