American Quarter Horse Journal, aqha.com
On May 31, strong storms hit the Oklahoma City area, damaging the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds, where exhibitors were preparing for Oklahoma Quarter Horse Association’s annual Redbud Spectacular.
On June 1, Oklahoma City’s safety management team evaluated the fairgrounds and notified the facility managers that the event facility would have to be closed.
The Redbud Spectacular, which had been scheduled to continue through June 9, has been canceled for 2013. No horses, participants or spectators were injured in the storms. The show is expected to return in 2014.
Events that had been scheduled for Remington Park in Oklahoma City were expected to continue, beginning at 5 p.m.
