Our Condolences to Friends and Family of Kathy Hunt

Former AQHA world champion Kathy Hunt died in a weather-related crash as she was returning from Oklahoma City.

November 25, 2013- AQHA member Kathy Hunt of Clovis, California, was killed November 23 in a weather-related crash outside of Gallup, New Mexico, according to New Mexico State Police. Kathy and her husband, Thomas, were returning home to California from the 2013 AQHA World Championship Show in Oklahoma City.

Police said Kathy, 56, was the passenger in a pickup truck that was traveling westbound on Interstate 40. The pickup unsuccessfully attempted to avoid hitting a stopped semi at approximately 7:30 p.m. near Mile Post 26 outside of Gallup, police said.

Survivors from the crash include Kathy’s husband, as well as the horse in the trailer and the couple’s dog.
