New Fall Internship Positions Available at APHA
FORT WORTH, Texas—College students and recent graduates with a special interest in Paint Horses or breed associations are invited to apply for any of three new fall internships in the performance, marketing or editorial departments at the American Paint Horse Association (APHA) in Fort Worth, Texas.
APHA is a breed registry that collects, records and preserves the pedigrees of American Paint Horses. The registry also creates and maintains programs that increase Paint Horse value and enrich member experiences with their horses, in addition to providing show and sale coordination, public relations, information dissemination and administration services.
Fall internships are available from September to December 2011, and are paid positions. Applications will be accepted until August 15, 2011.
Each intern will be responsible for transportation, room and board while working for the Association. Primary activities will vary between departments, however, interns will take on special responsibilities during the APHA Open/Amateur World Championship Show, November 2-12, 2011, in Fort Worth, Texas.
The performance intern will be responsible for award preparation, facility arrangements, show preparation, coordination of events during the show and projects related to the Youth program. Preference will be given to individuals majoring in animal or equine science or agribusiness.
The editorial intern will write and photograph for the Paint Horse Journal and Paint Horse Connection magazines, and will be responsible for writing stories for the internet at the APHA Open/Amateur World Show. Candidates should have a strong understanding of journalism, photography and horses.
The marketing intern will promote APHA activities, including the World Show, by working with the media and individuals in the equine industry. He or she will also write and disseminate hometown press releases following the show, update media contact lists and assist in developing a marketing plan for the World Show. Applicants with experience or interest in journalism, agricultural communications, public relations or marketing will be given preference. Horse experience is also a benefit.
Also new for APHA, the performance department will be offering a spring internship from January to April, 2012. Qualifications and specifications will be similar to that of the fall intern. Applications for the spring position will be due November 30, 2011.
Summer internships are also available for the performance, editorial and marketing departments each year from May to August. Application information will be available April, 2012.
