Meet one of IHSA’s Hunt Seat coaches, Tenley Struhs of Otterbein University, Westerville, OH (IHSA Zone 6, Region 2)! Tenley is one of the coaches who helps to push her team to win, and does a great job at it!

Where do you coach and how long have you been there?

I have been teaching at Otterbein University for one year.

What makes you proudest about your current team?

I am incredibly proud of my team because for the first time last season we won our Region, won Zones, and qualified for Nationals where we placed seventh. We also had many riders qualify individually. Twenty-one for Regionals, three  for Zones, and one for Nationals. In addition to great success in the ring it has been a pleasure working with the students in weekly lessons, traveling to shows, and hosting shows.

Were you an IHSA rider in college?  If so, who did you ride for?

I was an IHSA member at Otterbein University for four years and competed through Open Fences and Open Flat.

Who was your mentor/inspiration as a young rider and why?

My mentors and inspirations as a young rider came from Amy Owen, Janet Price, Beanie Cone, and Tara Krisle-Williams.

What has been your most memorable IHSA experience?

My most memorable IHSA experience as a coach was winning Zones allowing us to advance to Nationals!
